Newlyweds James and Emily Wilson recently took our campervan Betty on a mountain escape honeymoon in the Lake District. Visiting Sca Fell Pike, they used our van as basecamp, scaling two peaks in the process.

The campsite James and Emily stayed at is called Dalegarth Campsite. Located in the Eskdale Valley in West Cumbria, the location has splendid views. It looks up to Sca Fell Pike and has numerous cycle and hiking routes that surround it. What’s more, there are obviously plenty of rivers and lakes to be explored while there too. In addition, Dalegarth is a short distance from the local town Boot. Here, the infamous steam Ravenglass Railway departs, and takes you on a picturesque journey across the mountains.

Another spot James recommends visiting on a mountain escape in the Lake District is The Quiet Site. Peaceful in name and in nature, this site has multiple glamping options, but also space for campervans too. The award-winning, carbon-neutral holiday park is highly rated by James and he says he will definitely return. He also told us his parents were staying here and too would recommend the resort.
